Boomjam app

I transformed Boomjam’s mobile product from a clone of their web app to an on-the-go studio communicator.

Major mobile features were elevated while all existing functionality was kept accessible.

In these views you can see quick actions on Home, direct messaging, track listening/commenting, and project management.

Selected Work — Collage

Text editor

Collage’s product was a design editor for custom photo products — Canva meets Shutterfly.

We invested in the text editor and I was tasked with providing intuitive, powerful controls for our users.

Some industry standards were integrated with our design system, while other controls were created from scratch.

Also shown is part of the engineering spec provided for implementation.

Photo manager

Photos were the most vital part of most users’ projects. In the photo manager I designed ways for users to organize photos into albums, add/remove them from the current project, and get specific advice for what their photos will look like when printed.

Setting user expectations around printing was an area we regularly addressed, which saved on reprinting and customer service calls.

Background selector

Our users could choose a variety of image backgrounds or colors for their designs. This UI categorized the available themes and provided precise color selection, either by touch or by color code.

Template shopping page

A handful of products were sold primarily by theme, such as cards for holidays.

The shopping pages for those products were powered by previous UX upgrades in the project designer for filtering and categorizing those themes and layouts.

Book designer

One of the more complicated workflows I created was for designing photo books on mobile.

Users could edit the theme of the whole book, design individual pages, and reorder pages.

Project preview

This preview screen was presented before checkout, showing product-specific views before purchase.

As we upgraded our preview system to include 3D models, a wider range of products were brought to life for users.

Collaboration UI exploration

Our users had expressed a desire to collaborate on photo projects with family members.

Here, I began expanding our user menu to include options for sharing access to other people.
